Guided by our Saksham initiative, we are committed to nurturing lives through care, inclusion and dignity. Under Saksham, our CSR efforts focus on supporting vulnerable children and those with special abilities by enhancing their everyday living conditions and access to essential services. Through the Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) program, we extend support to Shishugrah, Shimla - a care home for young children in need of shelter and protection - and the Institute for Children with Special Abilities (Boys), Dhalli, Shimla, which supports children with visual, speech and hearing impairments.

We provide improved amenities, safe and nurturing environments and personal care that supports their physical, emotional and social development. By focusing on their growth, comfort and well-being, Saksham ensures these children are not only cared for but also empowered to thrive.

Focus Areas

To support, protect, care for and provide better living conditions for young children and those with special abilities, our CSR initiatives focus on enhancing living spaces, nutrition and personal care facilities at Shishugrah. We also provide essential support and equipment to children with special needs, ensuring they receive the care and dignity they deserve.

Children Need Care and Protection (CNCP), Shimla

As part of the CNCP under our Saksham initiative, we are humbled to offer our support to two important schools - Shishugrah, Shimla, and the Institute for Children with Special Abilities (ICSA), Dhalli, Shimla. These institutions provide essential care and protection to children in need, giving them the resources they need to build a better future.

At Shishugrah Shimla and ICSA Dhali​ we have facilitated the provision of essential equipment, including dining tables, trampolines, baby cots, gas stoves, washing machines, pressure cookers, water purifiers, and water tanks, ensuring the children’s daily needs are met.

For ICSA Dhalli, our support focuses on providing electrical equipment such as geysers, LED televisions, water tanks, and repairing solar panels and water connections, creating a comfortable and sustainable environment for children with special abilities. Through these efforts, we remain committed to enhancing the welfare of children under the CNCP program, ensuring they receive the care, protection and opportunities they need to thrive.

On-the-go Healthcare for Senior Citizens

In collaboration with HelpAge India, our Mobile Health Unit (MHU) serves underprivileged areas of Shimla, reaching over 2,500 patients and providing 15,000 treatments annually.

Mobile Health Unit – Healthcare Services

We offer free primary healthcare, including consultations, diagnostics and medicines. Our preventive care includes health and nutrition awareness, counselling and home visits for bedridden elderly patients. We also screen for conditions like diabetes and hypertension, raise awareness on elder rights and connect patients to local healthcare providers and government schemes for specialised care.

Compassionate Care for Cancer Patients

As part of Saksham, Oberoi Hotels Pvt. Ltd. is honoured to collaborate with CanSupport, India’s leading provider of free home-based palliative care, to make a meaningful difference in cancer support.

Oberoi Hotels Pvt. Ltd. had extended financial assistance to CanSupport to implement its palliative and supportive care programs, enabling the purchase of oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, wheelchairs, and dry ration kits for cancer patients in need. We had formalised an MoU with CanSupport to provide these resources for cancer patients in Shimla.

Enhancing Learning Spaces for Children with Special Abilities

Supporting critical infrastructure upgrades to create safer, more inclusive environments for children with visual, speech, and hearing impairments.

Infrastructure Strengthening Initiative

As part of our Saksham CSR initiative, Oberoi Hotels is undertaking essential infrastructural improvements at the Institute for Children with Special Abilities (Boys), Dhalli, Shimla. Operated by the Himachal Pradesh State Council for Child Welfare, the institute supports 133 students, including 33 visually impaired boys and others with speech and hearing impairments.

The work includes roof replacement and tiling, aimed at creating a safer, more weather-resistant, and comfortable learning environment for the children. These improvements contribute to enhanced accessibility, well-being, and an overall better educational experience. The school is being partially renovated by EIH Limited Hotels.
